How to use a canon rebel eos digital camera? Aperture?

Monday Sep 28, 2009

got it from a family member without the manual. please help thanks

You can download the Manual for your camera at:
http://www.usa.canon.com/home

You can also check at http://www.dbusch.com and see if David Busch has written a Guide for your camera. His Guides are usually easier to understand – but you still need the original Owner’s Manual for your camera.

Which is a better camera Canon EOS Rebel T1i or Nikon D5000?

Monday Sep 21, 2009

Which one does better for picture and video?

Anyone who comes right out and says one is better than the other is probably completely biased. I shoot Nikon. I have for 5 years now. I would tell you either the Nikon or the Canon is capable of taking great photos and decent video. There are trade offs with either camera. You can see them both at DPReview. Go out a hold one of each. Put it up to your eye and feel out where the controls are. Some people feel Nikon’s are laid out better and some fell like Canon’s are. You wont go wrong with either camera. Take your time making a decision. Once you’ve made it, stop reading reviews. Go buy your camera and start learning to use it.

Canon Eos Rebel film camera?

Monday Sep 14, 2009

I have my sister’s old camera here, a Canon Eos Rebel. I know very little about it, and she hasn’t used it for years and doesn’t remember much.

Does anybody know what kind of film it takes, or otherwise have any tips in terms of using it?

Also, the camera doesn’t turn off unless you take the battery out, as it has no ‘on’ or ‘off’ button… Is there any trick to turning it off, or is the battery the only way?
I sadly don’t have the manual, either. Otherwise I would have read it front-to-back by now. :/

It takes 35mm film. I’ll search for a manual for you.

Do you have a left hand dial with a red L on it? Try turning it to that. http://photonotes.org/manuals/eos-rebel-s-ii/#begin

Help with picking a lens for my Canon EOS Rebel T1i Camera?

Monday Sep 7, 2009

I have a Canon EOS Rebel T1i digital camera and I plan on purchasing a telephoto lens. Which lens is better a:

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens for Canon EOS SLR Cameras

or a

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon Digital SLR ?

Cost does not matter, just the quality of the lens for getting good distance pictures.

Thanks for your help.

Either lens will work well. The 70-300mm lens offers just a tad more reach and will remain useful if you eventually move to a full-frame lens. I haven’t shot the 55-250mm lens but from personal experience, I can tell you the 70-300mm is a sharp, nicely built lens for the money. I compared this lens with EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM and at the time, couldn’t see a significant difference in image quality. I decided to keep the extra $500 in my pocket at the time and was quite happy with the lens for a the two years I shot with it. Only recently did I replace the 70-300mm lens with the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM because I wanted a faster aperture. However, I still miss the 70-300mm because it wasn’t nearly as conspicuous as the big white whale of a lens I have now.
