I want to take pictures with movement, like the tail light pictures, anyway is there a way to keep the shutter open to do this.
On manual mode and crank it down to "bulb"….
I have two Sigma lenses made for Canon, that were bought in 1981. Will they work on the Canon 40d or 50d?
The distance to the focal plane is what determines the ability to use a lens with an adapter and still have the full range of focusing. The EF lenses used by EOS have a distance of 44mm while the FD lenses have a distance of 42mm. This is why the other responder is saying that a non-optical adapter would mean you could not focus to infinity. That can be either entirely or somewhat (depending on the lens) circumvented by using the depth of field provided by stopping down a couple of f-stops so while it is an inconvenience it does not have to be a show stopper.
Here is a $50 optical adapter from Adorama that has the required optical element and doubles as a macro extender with the optical lens removed.

My son is in football and I’d like to take some pictures of him on the field, but can’t quite catch him when he is so far away. Is there a specific lens in mind that I can use for my canon digital rebel eos?
70-200mm 2.8 L lens.
What is the minimum speed of a Compact Flash card that I can use on a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I have seen 133x and 266x cards and they are really expensive. I want to check what’s actually needed?
Thanks.
The Lexar series includes the 60x then 80x, 133x, and 300x. Similarly, SanDisk includes the regular, Ultra II, Extreme III and Extreme IV. I would suggest the 80x (12MB/sec) or Ultra II (10MB/sec). The others are definately options too for any upgrades in the camera body. Be sure that the higher writing speed cards are compatible with the camera body. Also, either 2GB or 4GB would be useful (better to buy a few smaller cards than to put all your images on one big one).
I’m wanting to purchase the canon eos digital rebel xt but the model is no longer in production and I’m thinking I should go with a newer camera. I’m wanting something with the same picture quality (as similar as I can get) and price range. Any suggestions?
They still make this camera, look here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=11154
It’s still on their new camera lists. The xt might have come out a really long time ago, but they still make them brand new, so they aren’t really old for say, because they aren’t used. This is still a nice camera, a very fine best selling camera. The only thing i have to complain about is that when i was holding it, and shooting, the 1.8" screen was really small, and puny. So, i think you should get the d40, it’s a great camera, don’t mind the six megapixels, here’s what i get from this camera:

This is a really nice camera, it has a larger screen, which you can be picky about. You have more room for composition in the view finder.
I am debating if I should only get the canon rebel xt body and the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens or if i should get the kit. What do you guys think? I plan to take a lot of landscape pictures too…so is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 or kit lens better for landscape? I am on a tight budget so please refrain from suggesting high-end lens.
thanks
For the most flexibility, get the 18-55mm. While "KIT" lens sound like it might be nothing better than a toy, neither Canon nor Nikon make junk lenses.
Actually for landscapes you will need the Canon 10-22mm lens ($800). The 18-55mm is too long for good landscapes or architectural. So for now, stick with the "kit" lens.
BTW the 50mm is better for portraits, not landscapes
okay, i have a canon rebel xt 350d, so yes it is digital if that makes a difference. i have two lenses already, i have the 18-55m and the 75-300mm. is there a specific lense i need to get a really good shot of the moon?
You can use your 75-300 mm at 300 mm. The exposure is 1/ISO at f/16 so you can hand hold the shot. Be sure to have your focus set at infinity. You may want to bracket a little. Depending upon where you are in the world, f/16 may give you too much exposure
At 300 mm the moon will still only fill about a fifth of the cameras frame, but if you shoot using RAW, you can crop a lot of the sky out later.
I bought an adapter so I can mount my camera on my telescope … That worked the best.
