BEFORE purchasing …
BEFORE purchasing this camera, or dreaming about this camera, please do yourself a favor and google darwin wiggett 7d. Read the detailed review and the comments.

Sadly, this potentially great camera was ruined by the marketing muppeteers at Canon who elected to cram too many megapixels on the small APS-C sensor, thus compromising the purity of the sensel signal.

If the 7D would have launched as a 10mp camera, the 7D would have been incredible. So close, yet so far.

Why Canon, why?

You do realise that …
You do realise that the 7D is a leap forward from the 50D right?
The extra megapixels represent the smallest improvement. The 7D has the much more advanced intelligent autofocus, many more AF points, faster throughput, the new ClearView II screen, built-in speedlite transmitter, weather sealing, and on and on.

Basically… the 7D …
Basically… the 7D is great for sports and telephoto work, while the full frame 5D mark 2 is better for portraits and wide angle…

had mine for 10 …
had mine for 10 days, sold it. Shot a wedding with it and some action stuff. Images were not clean, hi iso was terrible for a 2010 model camera. My 1ds2/1d2 had cleaner ISO. If this build and AF was in a 5d2, would be greatest camera ever.

Can anyone tell me …
Can anyone tell me if the 7D (or the 5D) uses 8 or 10 bits quantization ? What about the compression ? Is it MJPG200 or AVCHD ? Can you output HDSDI ?
Thank you

it does not depend …
it does not depend on what your looking for in a camera the 7d is better than the 50d in every aspect except price.

thats like saying the xti might be a better camera than the 1d mkIII, the only thing better about xti is the price, but they are meant for different consumers,
