Cheap answer: Get a tripod for 30 bucks. Yes its a piece of junk, but if you just want to take some self portraits and landscapes its fine.
References :
lol, I have this mental image.....'girl holding a dSLR at arms length, trying to take a myspace type self image'.
oh, sorry.
Commonsense would say, mount the camera on a tripod etc. etc.
Just do what fhotoace says...
References :
The lens you have is an excellent portrait lens for your camera. If you want to shoot yourself at arm's length, then you may find that the 18-55 IS lens is what you really want to add to your already excellent 50 mm f/1.8

You will have to forget using P&S techniques when you use it. Just place the camera on a table or even a tripod. Pre-focus where you will be using the manual focus feature on your camera, set the self-timer and get in front of the camera.
References :
Fashion and glamour photographer

Only a wide lens, 20mm and under maybe. Pretty expensive. You can just buy a tripod and use the self timer mode and pose really quick, or at an angle to make it look you are holding the camera if that's what you're going for. Getting a remote is also very nice.
