Blue Angels Time Lapse @ the Dayton Air Show
Posted by admin | Under Canon Rebel XT Body Tuesday Jul 27, 2010
This is a time lapse video of the Blue Angels performing at the United States Air and Trade Show (Dayton Air Show) on Saturday, July 17th, 2010.
It only covers a small portion of the sky because unfortunately the widest I can get is 18mm on 1.6x crop camera. I also opted for a vertical orientation, which in hind sight appears to have been not necessary to capture the most glimpses of the show. I’ll be trying this again tomorrow if the weather permits and will definitely go horizontal.
As stated at the beginning of the video, this is about 45 minutes’ worth of video compressed into under a minute. I shot approximately .51 frames per second and am playing it back at .03 seconds per frame, which by my fuzzy math works out to be 66.66~X “real life” speed.
Technical information:
Camera body: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT
Camera lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II @ 18mm
Exposure: 1/320th, ISO 200, f/9
Mounted on a tripod
Triggered with a TI-83+ Calculator (see http://www.instructables.com/id/Turn-a-TI-Graphing-Calculator-into-an-Intervalomet/ for more information)
I hope you enjoy! I had fun making it!
