What is the best Macro Photography lens for a Canon Rebel EOS XSi camera?

Monday Aug 30, 2010

I’ve been looking and asking around a lot for the right macro lens for my Canon XSi.
I know there may be certain types of macro lenses? (i.e. f/2.8, 60 mm…)
That’s when I get confused when searching for the right lens for my camera.
I want the best quality, but maybe not the most expensive.
Any suggestions, or clarifications would be much appreciated!
Thanks so much!

Hey,

A real macro lens has 1:1 ratio. All Canons have it, except for the 50mm Macro which is 1:2, which doesn’t magnify your object as much as 1:1 macro lenses do.

Macro lenses have amazing quality and are sharp! These are the finest lenses available!

Here’s a post called ‘Buying a Macro Lens for Canon – http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2010/02/buying-macro-lens.html

Good luck.

How to Avoid Grey Market Scams – FrugalTech

Wednesday Aug 25, 2010

http://www.frugalbrothers.com

Recently, I went looking for a good price for a Canon GL2 camcorder. This machine sells normally between $2000 to $2200 on the web. However, a site promised it for only $699. Welcome to the shady world of "Grey Market' electronics. Distributed by Tubemogul.

The Other Day I Bought The Canon EOS Rebel G Camera, and I have some questions?

Friday Aug 20, 2010

It’s an older camera, but to anyone who knows anything about it …
where can i buy film for it? (35 mm) and where can i buy lenses? I prefer not to buy them online though :P .
thanks, i know its an ancienct camera, but its a good start to photography for me.
im totally new to cameras…i dont know if i just buy film at regular stores…or what haha.

poor thing – I have a rebel G film camera (which I purchased before I knew better).

35mm film can be found anywhere. I see it in drugstores, supermarkets, and sometimes even gas stations.

Canon lenses can be found anywhere they sell cameras (even Target and other big box stores).

The eos rebel G is not THAT ancient. The Canon FTb is ancient. Though there are way older canon cameras than even this one.

Canon EOS Rebel T1i Digital SLR Camera Review

Canon’s new EOS Rebel T1i is packed with features, both refined and new. In addition to its admirable performance with an all-new 15.1 Megapixel Canon CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 Image Processor, a 3.0-inch Clear View LCD with anti-reflective and scratch resistant coating, and compatibility with the EOS System of lenses and Speedlites, the EOS Rebel T1i adds remarkable Full HD video capture at resolutions up to 1920 x 1080.

An HDMI port allows for quick connections to high definition TVs and monitors for easy viewing of your stills and video. The entire operation is simple and easy even if you are a beginner. You’ll have uncompromised EOS Digital performance with power and flexibility right in the palm of your hand.

EOS Rebel T1i Highlights

New 15.1-megapixel CMOS sensor with DIGIC 4 Image Processor
Canon’s CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) sensor captures images with exceptional clarity and tonal range and offers the most pixels in its class. It offers many of the same new technologies as used by Canon’s professional cameras to maximize each pixel’s light gathering efficiency. Its APS-C size sensor creates an effective 1.6x field of view (compared to 35mm format). Canon’s DIGIC 4 Image Processor dramatically speeds up all camera operations for intuitive operation and offers improvements in both fine detail and natural color reproduction. It works in concert with the EOS Rebel T1i’s image sensor to achieve unprecedented levels of performance in all lighting situations.

14-bit A/D Conversion
With the EOS Rebel T1i, analog to digital signal conversion is executed by a 14-bit processor, which generates digital data with incredibly smooth tones. A feature that originally appeared in top-of-the-line pro digital SLR cameras, the 14-bit conversion gives incredibly smooth transitions from light to dark colors with far less risk of “banding.” A sky at sunset is a perfect example. With this rich 14-bit gradation, the EOS Rebel T1i offers RAW images of the highest quality that can be processed with Canon’s Digital Photo Professional software. Even JPEG files, which are always finished at 8-bits per channel, use the full 14-bit conversion initially to generate the best possible color and tonal detail.

Full HD video capture at 1920 x 1080 resolution
The EOS Rebel T1i shoots brilliant video, even in full high definition. By simply selecting Movie mode on the EOS Rebel T1i’s mode dial, the camera’s 3.0-inch LCD lights up, and it’s ready to go. Shooting is at a frame rate of 30 fps when shooting SD or HD quality video (640 x 480 and 1280 x 720 pixels, respectively) and at a frame rate of 20 fps in Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) recording. Sound is recorded through the camera’s built-in microphone. Playback modes are simple to access, and all Live View AF features can be used in shooting video.

Live View Function for stills and video
With Live View Function on the EOS Rebel T1i, you can enjoy nearly every camera function available in normal shooting, all with the convenience of composing on the camera’s brilliant 3.0-inch LCD monitor. You can zoom in and navigate the composition and there’s even a grid overlay for architectural shots. Live View focusing modes include Quick mode, Live mode and Face Detection AF mode and these are easily selectable through the convenient Live View Function menu.

what do you think about the canon eos rebel xsi camera flash?

Tuesday Aug 10, 2010

i have a canon powershot SD1000 right now & the reason i bought it is because it was one of the only cameras that wouldn’t make my eyes close with the flash. my eyes are sensitive to some camera flashes so i can’t just buy any camera, and since i moved out of the country and i can’t try the cameras out like I did with my first one. How is the flash on the canon eos rebel xsi? I have a really old canon rebel from like 1991 & that flash doesn’t make my eyes close. A friend is coming to visit me soon and she’s going to buy it for me if I ask her to. I really want this camera but I need to know if I will be able to take pictures of myself with it too.

Trust me your eyes being sensitive, and I do understand, has nothing to do with the camera’s flash.
What I mean is that a flash is a flash is a flash. If your eyes are sensitive to your current flash they’ll be sensitive to any flash, regardless of camera make or model.

Your old camera may not be as strong as today’s flash models – that’s about the only thing I can think of. Today’s flash units though small put out a lot of light relative to their size. I’d expect the same
result for your eyes with any of today’s cameras.

My suggestion is this. If you’re taking a self portrait, say on a tripod with your timer, once in position
blink a couple of times quickly and look directly into the lens, not at the flash. This may help.

Good Luck, Jim
