can you change the color of the pictue on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i?

I’m thinking of buying the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i but i was just wondering if i’m able to take black and white pictures, sepia etc. on this camera..Anybody know if this is possible?

Yes. Black and white is called monotone in their menu system. However, many find it better to take a photo in raw, and then convert it to sepia or black and white with a single button click later using the Canon software. This way you have a color version of the photo (the original RAW file) and a black and white. If you shoot JPEG in monotone, you will only have a black and white without the ability to change it back to color later.

Keep in mind that pretty much any digital camera out there can do this, which makes it a poor reason to spend hundreds on a DSLR.

When is the best time to buy a EOS Digital Rebel XTi?

Is cannon going to release another newer camera to replace this one which will lower the price? If not, should I buy it before Christmas or after?

Usually canon makes their new camera and lens announcements in the months leading up to an important tradeshow, the PMA. The next PMA will be in February 2008.

Canon had already made their new camera announcements a few months ago in August, the new cameras they announced was the Canon 40D, and the Canon 1Ds Mark III. There had been no word on a successor to the XTi just yet.

If you want to buy a camera, one of the best times to buy it is in the fall when Canon offers their double/triples rebates for those who buy camera and lenses. Unfortunately, this years rebates didn’t seem too generous as in years past. usually you get a rebate if you buy one canon camera item. when you buyanother canon item, the rebate amount for each item now doubles. when you buy three items, the rebate amount for each item triples.

The only current rebate/coupon right now listed on their website is one for lenses. save up to $125 on selected lenses. expires Jan 13, 2008.

you can alternatively wait until spring 2008—when canon offers their spring rebates—to see what’s up, but don’t expect much. it’s the fall rebates that are usually better.
