There are eight different white balance settings on the XSi, but only custom white balance give you the most accurate settings, based on exactly the light under which you are currently shooting, from the Magic Lantern DVD Guide to the Canon XSi
http://www.robnunnphoto.com/ In case you didn’t catch it in the video, the W.I.F.E. checklist goes like this:
W – White Balance. Are you set to AUTO?
I – ISO. Have you returned your camera to its base settings? (Normally 100 / 200).
F – Focus. Is your lens set to auto-focus? Are you using single shot or continuous focusing?
E – Exposure. Are you in the right mode? Are you at an aperture or shutter speed that will be right as soon as you turn your camera on?
Also check that you’re shooting RAW, your batteries are charged, and you’ve got spares in your bag.
This is an introduction and walk around the Canon Rebel XSi Digital Camera. There are many confusing buttons on the XSi, and I decided to go over all of them for Canon Rebel XSi, XTi and XT users. This is also just one chapter of my new DVD Canon Rebel XSi Crash Course, which has over 3 hours of great lessons to help get you started taking amazing photographs. It can be ordered from my web store at: http://michaelthementor.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath20&products_id=7
Here’s an introduction to the custom menu, which you can fill with your own most-used functions and customize your camera to suit your shooting style, from the Magic Lantern DVD Guide to the Canon XSi.
